Hey everyone!
Let’s chat about hair growth oils! I’ve been on a journey to keep my hair care routine simple and effective, and I’ve tried a few oils over time. Here’s what I’ve discovered about what works and what doesn’t:
What Works:
-
Mielle Organics Rosemary Mint Strengthening Oil: This one’s a gem! The mix of rosemary and mint feels refreshing on the scalp, and my hair feels stronger and healthier. Plus, it’s super affordable at around $10. I like to massage it in before bed and let it work its magic overnight.
-
Castor Oil: Old but gold. Castor oil is thick, so a little goes a long way. It’s rich in ricinoleic acid, which is known for promoting hair growth. I usually mix it with a lighter oil like jojoba to make it easier to apply.
-
Coconut Oil: Simple and versatile. Coconut oil helps with hair hydration and can reduce protein loss. I mostly use it as a pre-shampoo treatment, leaving it on for about 30 minutes.
What Didn’t Work for Me:
-
Heavy Oils: Oils like pure olive oil or really thick blends just made my hair greasy without much benefit. They weigh my hair down and are tough to wash out.
-
Oils with Unknown Ingredients: Some fancy oils with tons of ingredients didn’t do much for me. I’ve found that sticking to simple, natural oils works best.
Tips:
- Patch Test: Always do a patch test to ensure you’re not allergic to any oil.
- Consistency: Regular application is key. Find a routine that works for you, whether it’s weekly or bi-weekly.
- Scalp Massage: This boosts blood circulation and can help with hair growth. Plus, it’s super relaxing!
