Hey lovely people!
I hope you’re all having a fabulous day! Today, I want to chat about something that’s been a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences for me – natural hair during pregnancy! Buckle up, because this ride is full of twists, turns, and a whole lot of hair-raising (literally) moments.
When I found out I was expecting, I was over the moon! But little did I know, my hair was about to embark on its own unique journey. Here’s a peek into what I’ve experienced and some tips I’ve picked up along the way:
The Voluminous Vibes
One of the first things I noticed was how my hair seemed to be fuller and more voluminous. Thanks to the pregnancy hormones, my hair was not shedding as much, and it felt like I had a lion’s mane! If you’re experiencing this, enjoy it! It’s the perfect time to experiment with new hairstyles that embrace that extra volume.
The Frizz Frenzy
On the flip side, I also encountered some serious frizz. Pregnancy hormones can sometimes make smooth hair turn into a frizzy mess. For those battling the frizz, a round bristled metal comb can be your best friend. It reduces static and helps manage the frizz. Also, deep conditioning treatments can work wonders!
Oil Massages – A Slice of Heaven
If you’re looking for a way to pamper yourself (and who isn’t?), gentle head massages with warm oil are a game-changer. I found that massaging my scalp two to three times a week not only boosted hair growth but also helped me sleep better. It was like a mini spa session at home, and trust me, your scalp will thank you!
Regular Trims – Keep it Fresh
Even though it might seem counterintuitive, getting regular trims can actually help keep your hair looking healthy and vibrant. Trimming off those split ends prevents further damage and keeps your hair looking its best.
Avoiding the Wet Comb Temptation
One of the hardest habits to break was combing my hair while it was still wet. It’s so tempting, especially when you’re in a hurry, but wet hair is more prone to breakage. So, I started using a wide-tooth comb and waited until my hair was at least partially dry before detangling.
